Karen originally trained and worked as an architect, but did a sideways move into wallpaper design and printing using hand block and screenprinting.

She is now working as an experimental printmaker on the Atlantic coast of Scotland, her fascinations are the shapes, patterns and structures of the ancient rocks, where the land meets the sea.

Her work is elemental, abstract, reacting to the formation, layering and the energy driven cracks in the rocks, plus their relationship to tree structures and other shoreline details like wind and water patterns in the sand.

Working mainly now with monotype in a square format, using recycled materials cut into shapes to make small limited editions of about 10 pieces, and one off 3D collages re-using the already recycled printing plates .

Colour and pigments have also been an enduring passion since childhood and she is completely fascinated by the daily changing colours of the seasons.
